A Gold Hill resident has been arrested following an undercover operation targeting online predators, according to the Eugene Police Department.
Kaleb John Francis Altman, 25, was taken into custody in Medford after investigators said he engaged in inappropriate communications with a detective posing as a teenager.
Police allege Altman sent explicit material to the undercover officer, believing the recipient was a minor. He has been charged with luring a minor and online sexual corruption of a child in the second degree.
The arrest was the result of a multi-agency effort involving the Eugene Police Department, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oregon Department of Justice. The operation was conducted as part of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force’s broader initiative to combat online crimes against children.
Authorities said the investigation reflects ongoing efforts to identify and prosecute individuals who target minors online. Police also encouraged parents to monitor their children’s internet use and discuss online safety.
