Police in Corvallis have arrested a suspect accused of attacking a man with a baseball bat at a local park following a dispute.
Assault Reported Near Park Restrooms
According to the Corvallis Police Department, officers responded shortly after 12 p.m. on March 17 to an assault at Pioneer Park, located along Southwest Philomath Boulevard.
At the scene, officers found a 35-year-old victim who said he had been struck multiple times with a metal bat.
Dispute Led to Violent Attack
Investigators identified the suspect as 45-year-old James Allen Burke, who allegedly carried out the attack following a financial dispute involving his girlfriend.
Emergency responders treated the victim at the scene. Authorities did not release details about the extent of injuries.
Suspect Located Hours Later
Police said Burke fled the area with a 27-year-old woman before officers arrived. He was later located around 5:45 p.m. near the First Christian Church and taken into custody without incident.
