Eugene, OR — The trial of a Eugene man accused of severe child abuse, including using a stun gun as punishment, has been postponed until June, according to court updates.
Dozens of Charges in Child Abuse Case
Brandon Bret Rogers, 45, is facing more than 60 charges related to the alleged abuse of his 7-year-old son in 2024. Among the accusations, prosecutors claim Rogers used a taser to discipline the child, raising serious concerns about prolonged mistreatment.
Co-Defendant Already Sentenced
The boy’s mother, Heather Black, was also charged in connection with the case, facing the same 63 counts. She previously accepted a plea agreement and was sentenced to 15 years in prison last year.
Trial Rescheduled to June
Rogers’ trial, initially expected to proceed sooner, has now been delayed until June, giving both prosecution and defense additional time to prepare.
Case Draws Community Attention
The allegations have sparked concern in the Eugene area due to the severity of the charges and the nature of the reported abuse. Cases involving alleged harm to children often draw heightened scrutiny from both the public and legal system.
Proceedings Ongoing
Authorities have not released additional details as the case moves forward. Rogers remains scheduled to stand trial this summer, where prosecutors are expected to present evidence tied to the extensive list of charges.
