NORTH BEND, Ore. — A man has been taken into custody after allegedly shooting an arrow at law enforcement officers during an eviction operation in Coos County, authorities confirmed.

According to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, the incident unfolded on April 2 at an apartment complex on Broadway Avenue in North Bend.

Confrontation Escalates During Eviction Attempt

Officials said deputies, along with members of the civil division, arrived at the residence to carry out an eviction order when they encountered the suspect, identified as Jimmy Oiterong, at the doorway.

Authorities reported that Oiterong was armed with a compound bow and had an arrow drawn and ready to fire. In response to the immediate threat, deputies deployed less-lethal force using bean bag rounds.

Despite those efforts, Oiterong allegedly released an arrow toward the deputies, narrowly missing them.

Special Response Team and K9 Unit Involved

Following the escalation, the Coos County Emergency Response Team was called to the scene and used chemical agents in an attempt to subdue the suspect.

Oiterong then reportedly fled the apartment through the back, prompting a foot pursuit. Law enforcement officers, assisted by a K9 unit from the Coos Bay Police Department, were able to locate and apprehend him shortly afterward.

Suspect Faces Multiple Serious Charges

After being taken into custody, Oiterong was transported to a local hospital for evaluation before being booked into the Coos County Jail.

He is currently facing several charges, including attempted murder, unlawful use of a weapon, menacing, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment, and attempting to evade police on foot. Authorities indicated that additional charges may still be filed as the investigation continues.

Investigation Ongoing

Officials confirmed that the suspect remains in custody as of April 2. The case remains under active investigation as authorities review the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
