A burglary suspect in Bandon was quickly caught after a homeowner followed the suspect’s vehicle and alerted authorities, according to officials.
Homeowner Chases Suspect After Break-In
The incident unfolded on April 17 when a resident reported a break-in at a shop on Upper Fourmile Lane. The homeowner called 911 while actively following the suspect’s car, providing real-time updates to law enforcement.
Police Locate and Arrest Suspect
Deputies from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, along with Bandon Police Department, tracked the vehicle to a residence near Highway 101 and Hoffer Lane.
Authorities arrested Kaine Horner, 29, on charges of burglary and theft. He was later booked into the county jail.
Stolen Items Include Bear Hide and Mounted Bobcat
Investigators said the suspect allegedly stole several items, including:
- A bear hide
- A mounted bobcat
- Other valuables from the shop
The homeowner was able to recover the bear hide after it fell from the suspect’s vehicle during the pursuit.
Missing Item Still Unrecovered
Officials said the mounted bobcat fell from the car near Highway 101 and Upper Fourmile Lane and remains missing. Authorities believe it may have been picked up by a passing driver.

Anyone who may have found the missing item is urged to contact local authorities so it can be returned to its owner.
