Teen Parking Lot Fight Turns Deadly in Vancouver, 16-Year-Old Dies After Shooting

On This Post

A 16-year-old boy has died after a shooting that followed a fight in a Vancouver parking lot earlier this week, according to police.

Officers responded around 8:30 p.m. Monday to the area of Northeast 18th Street and Andresen Road, where they found a 17-year-old with non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to a hospital and remained in stable condition as of Tuesday evening.

Later that night, a separate 16-year-old arrived at a local hospital with critical injuries. Despite medical efforts, he later died. Authorities also confirmed that a third teenager, also 16, sought treatment on his own for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police said the violence began as a physical altercation between two groups of teenagers in the parking lot. During the confrontation, multiple individuals pulled out firearms, leading to gunfire that injured three people.

A 17-year-old suspect was arrested near the scene and booked into the Robert L. Harris Juvenile Justice Center on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm.

The identities of those involved have not been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.
