A man faces felony drug charges after police discovered a huge amount of cocaine during a traffic stop on the city’s West Side.

According to reports, officers stopped a car near Mahoning and South Maryland avenues at 10:50 a.m. Friday for failure to yield and unlawful window tinting.

Police claimed the driver, Isaac Ford, 36, appeared tense and disturbed. Due to previous reports of narcotics activity in the neighborhood, an officer requested assistance from a K-9 unit.

A Liberty police dog notified officers of the presence of drugs in the vehicle. According to authorities, Ford then admitted to officers that there was cocaine under the passenger seat.

Officers examined the vehicle and apparently discovered a package weighing approximately one kilogram.

Police also stated that Ford had $3,240 in cash on him at the time of his arrest.

Ford is scheduled to appear in municipal court on a first-degree felony charge of drug possession. He was being held at the Mahoning County Jail.
