A shooting at an east Indianapolis gas station on Tuesday killed one man and left another in serious condition.
Investigators suspect the shooting began as a disagreement between two or more people at the petrol station near the junction of 10th Street and Emerson Avenue just before 10:30 p.m. May 5. According to police, two guys opened fire on each other, injuring both.
One of the men was discovered in the gas station and transported to the hospital, where he later died of his injuries. The Marion County Coroner’s Office eventually identified the dead as 26-year-old Izaak Garcia. The coroner’s office is investigating his specific manner and cause of death.
The second man got into a car and drove to 10th Street and College Avenue, where he phoned the police. He was believed to be in critical condition in the hospital.
The IMPD believes this is an isolated incidence.
There was no instant information regarding any other potential suspects.
