A Pennsylvania mother is facing charges after authorities say she was out making a heroin transaction when a fire broke out inside her home, killing her three children.
Danozjna Shalita Marjie Williams, 22, has been charged with third-degree murder, endangering the welfare of minors, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person in connection with a deadly fire that occurred on Sunday, March 29, 2026.
The fire broke out shortly before 4:30 p.m. that day, killing three of Williams’ children who were inside at the time, according to officials.
Officials reported that search warrants revealed evidence that Williams had left her children unaccompanied at home when the incident happened. Police say Williams was gone for around 50 minutes to perform a drug transaction.
Erie County District Attorney Elizabeth Hirz commented, “This is a terrible but entirely preventable tragedy. The evidence demonstrates that these young children were left unsupervised in a circumstance where they relied on their mother to protect and keep them secure. That obligation was neglected, with disastrous results.”
Williams was refused bail during his preliminary arraignment on May 8.
