A woman is dead and a juvenile is in serious condition after a multi-vehicle crash on the North Central Expressway early Sunday morning, authorities said.
Fatal crash on North Central Expressway
At 3:56 a.m., Dallas police responded to reports of a severe accident near North Henderson Avenue. A preliminary examination found that a silver pickup truck heading northbound crossed two lanes of traffic before colliding with a concrete barrier and a support pillar.
The silver truck then reentered the street and collided with a red pickup truck, forcing the second vehicle to crash into the concrete barrier and come to a stop in the travel lanes. The silver truck drove on before slamming the barrier again.
According to police, the silver pickup carried a driver and four passengers. All four passengers were sent to a nearby hospital, where an adult female eventually died of her injuries. A young passenger has been hospitalized with serious injuries.
The red truck carried a driver and one passenger, who was brought to a hospital for medical treatment.
The driver of the silver truck was detained on the scene and transported to a hospital for treatment. Police stated the driver’s name and charges would be published once they were booked into the Dallas County Jail.
The investigation is underway.
