Man sentenced to prison for 2024 KCK fatal shooting of 17-year-old boy

A 43-year-old man has been sentenced for the 2024 deadly shooting of a teenager in Kansas City, Kansas.

Sean Lyle Marshall was sentenced to 10 years and two months in prison by the Wyandotte County District Court on May 1, after being found guilty in March.

According to the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department, 17-year-old Nicholas Brooks was discovered dead inside a car at North 2nd Street and Quindaro Boulevard on November 30, 2024.

Marshall locked himself inside a residence at McGrew Grove and Quindaro Boulevard on December 11, 2024, when officers served a warrant for Brooks’ murder.

This led to a standoff, with Marshall eventually surrendering.

Marshall was originally charged with intentional second-degree murder, aggravated endangerment of a child, and firearm possession. The murder charge was ultimately changed to involuntary manslaughter.
