Two people are facing charges after an assault on a Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus and a later incident inside an ambulance in downtown Pittsburgh, according to court documents.
According to police, the altercation occurred between Smithfield Street and Fifth Avenue, when Melissa Simonovich allegedly assaulted James Malloy as he was getting off the bus.
Witnesses informed authorities that Simonovich hit Malloy several times with a walking stick and then with an umbrella.
After Simonovich was arrested, medics arrived to evaluate Malloy on the spot. Authorities said Malloy grew belligerent while being brought to a hospital in an ambulance and allegedly assaulted one of the medics.
Malloy was transported to the Allegheny County Jail after receiving treatment and being released from the hospital.
According to court documents, Simonovich informed police that the two had spent the day together and had been drinking.
Simonovich and Malloy are each facing many accusations, including aggravated assault.
