A man was apprehended after stealing a package containing a $53,000 Rolex from a FedEx store in Doral, according to authorities.
Vladimir Kudyakov, 43, was arrested Wednesday on charges of second-degree grand theft, organized fraud, dealing in stolen property, fraudulent use of identification information, possession of a stolen or fictitious driver’s license, possession of counterfeit driver’s license equipment, and unlawful use of a communications device, according to the arrest report.
According to the complaint, the victim told Doral Police that he went to the FedEx outlet at 10005 Northwest 41st Street on May 15 to pick up a package, but was told that it had been picked up the day before by an unknown individual using the victim’s license.
According to the investigation, the shipment contained a gold Rolex Day-Date watch worth at $53,500 purchased from a company in New Hampshire.
Surveillance video showed the suspect presenting the license and providing a tracking number before being handed the box and leaving.
An investigator utilized face recognition to identify the suspect as Kudyakov, according to the report.
Records also showed Kudyakov’s wife’s automobile was in Doral at the time of the theft, which is unusual given that Kudyakov resides in Hollywood, according to the article.
A FedEx loss prevention officer contacted police on May 20 to report that the same person was attempting to fraudulently collect another package at the FedEx facility at 200 S. Miami Avenue, according to the report.
Officers responded and brought Kudyakov into jail. He eventually made a full confession, according to the article.
Kudyakov was put into jail and appeared in bail court later Thursday. Judge Mindy Glazer set his bond at $57,500.”I’ll do a straight bond, but it’s a high bond; I probably should raise it if he’s involved in some kind of fraud ring, stealing expensive packages,” she explained.
