SANDY, Ore. — A standoff in Sandy on Sunday afternoon has left three people dead and one suspect in custody.

The suspect, 38-year-old Bryan Andrew Moore, faces charges in the killings of Jenna Overson, Mary Beth Overson and Kobyn McClure. He is also accused of shooting Sandy Police Sgt. Garrett Thornton, who is expected to recover.

Officers responded to reports of a fight and shooting just before 4 p.m. on May 31. When they arrived, someone opened fire on them. Thornton was struck multiple times and airlifted to the hospital via Life Flight, where he is listed in stable condition.

“This is a traumatic event for our community and the Sandy Police Department, and I know many people are grieving,” said Chief Patrick Huskey of the Sandy Police Department. “I ask everyone in our community keep the victims, our injured officer and families, friends and all the first responders in their thoughts tonight.”

Moore surrendered at the end of the standoff and is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment. Investigators believe the incident started as a fight.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office and Clackamas County Major Crimes Team are handling the investigation.
