A 40-year-old Pico Rivera man has been taken into custody in connection with a violent robbery in Orange County earlier this year, authorities said.
Officers from the Buena Park Police Department responded to a robbery incident in the 7700 block of San Rafael Drive just before 9 a.m. on April 25.
According to investigators, the victim was physically abused and robbed of two gold chains and a set of Apple AirPods. The assault left the victim with significant injuries that necessitated immediate surgery.
At the time, the suspect was characterized as an adult Hispanic male dressed in a white mask with markings, a black long-sleeved shirt, and blue trousers. He is thought to have fled the area in a white 2016 Chevrolet Equinox with a black front fender.
During the inquiry, officers identified the suspect as Jesus Alejandro Rocha-Herrera.
More than a week later, Rocha-Herrera was apprehended and charged.
“When detectives searched his home with a warrant, they recovered the clothing he wore during the robbery,” Buena Park police said in a news release.
Investigators believe Rocha-Herrera committed similar offenses in Los Angeles and Orange counties. Anyone with information on this case or who feels they have been victimized is asked to call Buena Park Police Detective Christiansen at 714-562-3967.
Those who desire to remain anonymous can call the Orange County Crime Stoppers Hotline at 855-TIP-OCCS.
