The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office says it has apprehended a man accused of murdering his girlfriend’s 2-year-old child.
According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation began on March 28, 2025, when deputies responded to Blue Lake Park in Fairview after receiving allegations of a man carrying an unresponsive infant.
When deputies arrived, they discovered that the 2-year-old girl was unconscious and not breathing.
They suspected the death was suspicious and launched an inquiry.
On March 16, 2026, the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office found that the cause of death was homicide.
On Wednesday morning, investigators acquired a warrant and arrested 28-year-old Dison Ruda at SE 92nd Avenue and SE Powell Boulevard, assisted by U.S. Marshals.
Ruda is now facing multiple counts, including second-degree murder and first-degree assault. He is set to appear in court on Thursday morning.
