Three children were pulled from pools around the Valley on Sunday evening, leaving a one-year-old boy dead and two others taken to the hospital.

Police responded to a drowning complaint near Higley and Elliot roads in Gilbert shortly after 5:30 p.m. Officers came and began lifesaving efforts on a 1-year-old boy before transporting him to the hospital.

He was pronounced dead in the hospital.

It’s unclear how long the boy spent in the water.

Police are investigating what caused the drowning.

Goodyear police were dispatched to a home on Estrella Parkway and Van Buren Street at 7:30 p.m. to investigate a possible child drowning.

First responders came to find family members attempting CPR on the toddler. The infant was reportedly breathing and was transported to a hospital for precautionary care.

Then, shortly before 9 p.m., Queen Creek first responders were dispatched to a home near Ellsworth and Germann roads for a probable drowning.

They came to discover the infant breathing on their own after receiving CPR. They were transported to the hospital for assessment.
