A woman armed with a rifle was apprehended Monday morning following an hours-long standoff in a residential area, authorities said.
Arlington Police officers responded to a disturbance complaint in the 300 block of Orange Street at 7:07 a.m. on Monday. A caller informed dispatchers that a lady brandishing a firearm was threatening people at the scene.
When authorities arrived, they spoke with two victims who reported that a woman they knew had threatened them with a rifle before fleeing into a nearby residence.
Police made phone contact with two people inside the home and securely escorted them out. Investigators discovered that the suspect and her partner remained locked inside the home.
After more phone conversations, officers were able to persuade the subject to surrender. She left the house and was taken into prison without incident. Her boyfriend also left the house safely, and police reported no injuries.
Charges against the individual were not immediately revealed.
The suspect’s identification has not been published.
