A Plant City woman was detained late Monday night after a deputy pulled her over for driving with a revoked licence in a Wildwood hotel parking lot.
Jessica Leigh Featherston, 40, was driving a white 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan when she was pulled over Monday around 10:20 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express on 928 E. State Road 44.
An arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office states that a deputy was on routine patrol near the intersection of State Road 44 and County Road 229 when a law enforcement database alerted him to the passing car. The technology showed that the SUV’s registered owner was driving without a valid licence.
The deputy tracked the vehicle and used a database photo to positively identify Featherston as the driver. He started a traffic stop, and Featherston drove into the hotel parking lot. She offered the deputy her Florida driver’s licence, registration, and insurance, but a check of the Driver and Vehicle Information Database (DAVID) revealed that her licence had been revoked.
Featherston was issued a traffic penalty and arrested on a misdemeanour charge of driving with a revoked licence. She was booked into Sumter County Detention Centre and released after posting a $500 bond.
