Oklahoma City police arrested four people after seizing nearly 30 pounds of methamphetamine and removing dozens of animals from a property in southeast Oklahoma City on Thursday.
Police carried out what they confirmed was a drug-related search warrant at a residence near Southeast 15th Street and High Avenue. Authorities have not revealed what brought detectives to the residence.
During the search, the Oklahoma City Police Department discovered roughly 30 pounds of methamphetamine.
According to police, at least four persons were arrested. The identities of those arrested, as well as any connected charges, have yet to be published by authorities.
Along with the narcotics investigation, Oklahoma City Animal Welfare officials helped remove other animals from the farm.
At least 20 dogs were removed from their homes, including one wearing a muzzle, according to News 9 cameras. Police reported that a horse, kittens, hens, and snakes were also removed.
Neighbors observed as authorities spent many hours at the home.
“It’s crazy. “This is literally insane,” remarked Nisha, who lives close.
Another resident reported seeing numerous persons in handcuffs but was unsure what was going on.
“I saw some men in handcuffs. Dora Garcia explained, “I had no idea what was going on until my neighbor.”
Neighbors said they were aware of the home’s dogs but were taken aback by what else they uncovered.
“I knew they owned dogs. Everybody over here knew they had pets, but the rest of this is mind-boggling,” Nisha explained.
She was also concerned about how near the probe was to her home.
“Too close for comfort.” “Way too close for comfort,” Nisha stated.
Police claimed the search warrant was tied to a drug investigation, but they did not elaborate on why officers chose the property.
The investigation is underway. Oklahoma City police said more information about people in custody will be shared as it becomes available.
