The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal stated that a West Monroe woman had been apprehended in connection with an April house fire.
Toneisha Shaw, 24, was arrested on June 21 in Dallas, Texas, on an outstanding warrant issued by the State Fire Marshal’s Office. On June 25, investigators extradited Shaw to Ouachita Parish and charged her with insurance fraud.
According to officials, the arrest stems from an investigation into a house fire that occurred at 10 p.m. on April 9 in the 500 block of Mitchell Lane in West Monroe. The West Monroe Fire Department responded to the blaze.
The West Monroe Fire Prevention Bureau stated that they requested assistance from the State Fire Marshal’s Fire Investigations Unit on April 13.
Investigators eventually acquired an arrest warrant for Shaw.
Officials emphasize that the matter is still under investigation, and no other information is being disclosed at this time.
