A resident of The Villages found herself in a revealing situation after a traffic stop led to the finding of a suspicious bulge in her underwear.
Elizabeth Ann Anklam, 31, of Silver Lake, was taken into custody by Fruitland Park police on Tuesday afternoon after a traffic check near the intersection of North Dixie Avenue and Shiloh Street.
The incident began when an officer noticed an SUV stopped in traffic and noticed that the front-seat passenger—later identified as Anklam—was not wearing a seatbelt. During the stop, the officer noticed a definite odor of marijuana originating from the vehicle. When the driver refused to cooperate with a search, the officer unleashed a K9, which instantly detected the presence of narcotics.
A search of the vehicle turned up a marijuana “roach,” but the major surprise came when investigators searched Anklam’s person. According to the arrest affidavit, a female officer discovered an object in the front of Anklam’s pants that was “not anatomically correct.” Following additional examination, the officer discovered a small plastic baggie with a crystalline material concealed in Anklam’s underwear.
Later tests revealed that the material contained methamphetamine.
Anklam, who was detained earlier this year in connection with the recovery of golf carts and tools, was charged with criminal possession of methamphetamine. She was booked into Lake County Jail and released after posting a $2,500 bond.
