A South Florida woman is millions of dollars richer after winning the top prize on a scratch-off ticket purchased at the grocery store.
Monica Rubio, 49, of Sunny Isles, won $7,752,000.00 in a one-time lump-sum payout, according to the Florida Lottery. On March 10, she officially claimed her prize at the lottery’s Miami District Office.
Rubio bought the fortunate ticket at the Publix store on 14641 Biscayne Boulevard in North Miami Beach.
The winning ticket was from the “$10,000 A WEEK FOR LIFE” scratch-off game. While the game’s title suggests a lifetime weekly payout, the Florida Lottery allows winners to accept the enormous one-time cash value instead, which Rubio chose.
The $20 scratch-off game offers over $225 million in total cash prizes. According to Florida Lottery records, the game began with four top prizes at $10,000 per week for life. The overall odds of winning any prize in the game are one in 2.96.
