A man was taken into custody for theft of a vehicle that was awaiting auction in Northeast El Paso, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
On June 18, deputies arrived to the 14400 block of Cassidy Drive for a reported stolen car, which had been repossessed and was awaiting auction.
Throughout the inquiry, deputies communicated with a male suspect, 21-year-old Donovan Acklin.
On June 23, deputies located the stolen vehicle in an apartment complex in the 13500 block of Eastlake.
Acklin was claimed to have been the vehicle’s previous owner.
Detectives discovered that Acklin had unlawfully entered the property before taking the vehicle, and he later acknowledged to stealing it.
On June 25, investigators secured arrest warrants charging Acklin with criminal mischief, criminal trespass, and theft of property from a motor vehicle.
Acklin was detained and lodged in the El Paso County Detention Facility. His bond was set at $60,000.
