A man has been taken into custody after allegedly making a terrorist threat on Vernon State Hospital.

On Monday, June 29, 2026, Vernon State Hospital went into lockdown due to a warning that a bomb had been planted in the park area in front of the facility. The Vernon Police Department and other authorities on the scene stated that no bombs were discovered on the site.

Following the threat, the Vernon Police Department’s investigation led to the identification and pursuit of a person of interest.

On Monday, July 6, the Vernon Police Department announced in a Facebook post that an arrest warrant had been acquired for Jadon Grangier, 23, of Bedford, Texas, in connection with the threat to Vernon State Hospital.

According to the post, Grangier turned himself in to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, July 1, on a warrant issued by the Vernon Police Department. According to the article, Grangier was detained on a third-degree felony charge of terroristic threat.

Following the arrest, Grangier’s lawyer called the Vernon Police Department.

At the time of publication, detectives had not identified or been given a motivation for the alleged offense.
