A former church treasurer is accused of stealing over $400,000 from the church.
Latrise Seward is accused of exploiting her access to the church’s bank accounts to make fraudulent personal expenditures totaling $402,655.45 between January 1, 2018 and August 29, 2025, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
Seward, who admitted to making the purchases, served as the treasurer of Mechanicsville United Methodist Church.
She is now in the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
