Police: 2 Dead After Crash Involving Semi On Far South Side

Two people died in a major crash on Chicago’s Far South Side on Friday morning, according to police.

The incident occurred around 9:15 a.m. on the 2700-block of East 130th Street in the Hegewisch neighborhood. According to authorities, the lorry was driving eastbound on 130th Street and attempted a left turn. A Dodge Grand Caravan, also traveling eastward, rear-ended the semi.

Two males of unknown ages were found inside the Dodge. They were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where both were declared dead, authorities said. Their names were not immediately published.

No other injuries were reported. The CPD’s Major Accidents Investigation Unit is conducting an investigation.

Authorities did not immediately share any information on the crash.
