An overnight search for a missing 73-year-old Indiana man ended Friday morning with his body discovered near a trail at Stoney Run County Park in Hebron, according to authorities.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Department says the man’s wife reported him missing at 4:25 p.m. on Thursday.
Investigators tracked the man’s cellphone and found his vehicle in the park’s parking lot. His cellphone was discovered inside the vehicle.
Authorities launched a large-scale search that lasted through the night, with help from multiple agencies, K-9 teams, drones, and other resources.
The search started Friday morning, and shortly after personnel began looking, the man’s body was discovered off a track in a highly wooded area.
The man’s identify has not been revealed in order to protect his family, according to the sheriff’s department.
Authorities have not revealed the circumstances surrounding his abduction or the cause of death.
The sheriff’s department said no foul play is suspected. The investigation is underway.
