A Most Wanted Fraudster was arrested and returned to Florida to face justice.
In an FBI Miami case update, FBI Special Agents reunited with Most Wanted Fraudster Elaine Angene Escoe.
“This is another example, in a series of examples, of the FBI’s resolve to bring financial fraudsters to justice,” FBI Miami posted.
Elaine Angene Escoe was wanted by law enforcement for allegedly conspiring to commit wire fraud and money laundering in connection with a scheme to fraudulently collect more than $32 million in federal COVID-19 relief payments.
On May 22, 2025, a federal arrest warrant was issued for Escoe in the Southern District of Florida. Escoe failed to show up for her court hearing on June 5, 2025.
The FBI obtained evidence that Escoe had escaped to Jamaica, and she was apprehended by Jamaican officials following a tip. The investigation and eventual capture of Escoe were conducted in collaboration with Homeland Security, the United States Attorney’s Office Southern District of Florida, the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office, the United States Marshal’s Service, the United States Diplomatic Security Services Regional Security Office at the United States Embassy in Kingston, the Jamaican Constabulary Force, and the Jamaica Fugitive Apprehension Team.
