Anthony Reyes-Sanchez, a 31-year-old Chicago man wanted in Ohio on child-related obscenity charges, was apprehended after authorities tracked him down in suburban Rosemont.
According to a post on X, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit and the United States Marshals Service’s Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force got information last week that Reyes-Sanchez was possibly living in Chicago and working in Rosemont. On Thursday, investigators set up surveillance in the 5500 block of Pearl Street, spotted a man matching his description enter a building, and subsequently arrested him after positively identifying him.
Central Ohio Crime Stoppers had identified Reyes-Sanchez as wanted for pandering obscenity involving a juvenile. The listing stated that he was 31 and frequented Columbus’ east side, providing an early public lead as investigators sought for him.
The Cook County sheriff’s notice stated that the Ohio warrant involved accusations of pandering obscenity to a minor and pandering sexually related stuff to a minor. It did not reveal the underlying claims, the Ohio court overseeing the case, or if an extradition hearing had been scheduled.
Under Ohio law, pandering obscenity involving a minor includes creating, distributing, or possessing obscene material involving a minor, with the felony level determined by the claimed activity. The related charge of peddling sexually oriented matter to a juvenile is specified separately in Ohio’s penal code.
Reyes-Sanchez is deemed innocent until proven guilty in court. According to the US Marshals Service, the Great Lakes task force, which is based in Chicago and collaborates with over 90 federal, state, and municipal organizations throughout the region, routinely assists in locating people wanted outside of Illinois.
