The Pennsylvania Lottery says an 86-year-old woman won a scratch-off lottery ticket worth $1.5 million sold at a local Giant Eagle.

Rita Franczyk was declared the winner, according to information supplied by a Pennsylvania Lottery official on Thursday. She purchased the ticket from Giant Eagle on Towne Center Drive in Allegheny Township.

According to officials, Franczyk was making a usual supermarket run to pick up her medicines, coffee, and milk. The only non-routine aspect of the trip was her decision to purchase the store’s new $30 tickets rather than the regular $5 tickets she buys “just for fun.”

“I said, ‘Whoa!’ but I bought it,” Franczyk admitted. “I won $50 with the first ticket I bought. I said to the clerk, ‘Thank you, you’re a wonderful buddy!'”

She had a large win with her second $30 ticket.

“I called my daughter immediately and said, ‘According to the store, I’m a millionaire!'” My daughter said, ‘Yeah right, Mom. ”I’m not kidding!’ I said. “Franczyk stated.

The life-changing victory came at a perfect moment for Franczyk, who stated that she had to relocate after a plumbing burst in her apartment and her rent rose. Lottery officials stated that she intends to buy a little house for herself.

“At Giant Eagle, we are thrilled to congratulate Rita, a loyal guest and new Pennsylvania Lottery winner,” Giant Eagle spokesperson Jannah Drexler said. “Throughout our 95-year history, we have been fortunate to have sold dozens of high-value winning tickets across our stores, and we look forward to our continued partnership with Pennsylvania Lottery.”

The grandmother of three is known as a creative soul who enjoys volunteering in her neighborhood.

“My most famous thing is painting children’s faces,” stated Franczyk. “I do what is best for others. I consider it a blessing to assist someone.”

She has experience as an interior designer, a bridal model, and a math instructor.
