The suspected gunman accused of shooting an employee at a Walmart in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, has been apprehended, police say.
Armani Tyrell Waite, 21, turned himself up on Monday, according to a Facebook post from Darby Township Police.
Waite was wanted for attempted murder and other crimes in connection with Friday’s shooting at the Walmart on North MacDade Boulevard in Glenolden. One employee was wounded in the calf but is expected to recover, authorities added.
Waite and another customer had a brief verbal altercation at the store’s self-checkout area. The other man lowered his shirt, revealing a revolver in his waistband, before Waite pulled out a rifle and fired three times, Delaware County District Attorney Tanner Rouse said at a press conference Monday afternoon.
One of the rounds penetrated the store’s glass door and struck the employee, who was outside at the time. Rouse reported that Waite then fled the scene on foot.
According to Rouse, Waite left the revolver and his car keys at the scene, which assisted authorities in linking him to the crime. According to the DA, the evidence does not imply Waite was in danger or shot in self-defense.

Several local police departments in Delaware County responded and assisted in the investigation, Rouse stated.
Waite was arraigned on Monday, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 11, according to court documents.
In a statement, a Walmart representative said, “The safety of our associates and customers is our top priority. We appreciate first responders’ prompt response and are cooperating with law authorities as their investigation continues.”
