A 29-year-old undocumented immigrant from Honduras was detained after being spotted driving without a valid license in Sumter County.
According to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, Marvin Samuel Bardales George, who lives in Tampa, was driving a white Ford pickup truck westbound on County Road 48 near State Road 471 in Bushnell at around 9:15 p.m. on Friday. A deputy following behind the vehicle noted that its left taillight was damaged and not functional, resulting in a traffic stop.
When the deputy asked for his driver’s license, Bardales George presented a Honduran identity card. He revealed to the deputy that he did not have a Florida driver’s license or identification card.
A check with the Sumter County Communications Center showed that he had never been awarded a driver’s license.
Bardales George was arrested on a misdemeanor allegation of driving without a legal license. He was booked into Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting a $500 bond.
