Authorities have identified the family of a toddler who was discovered walking alone in a field on Cleveland’s East Side, but the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The child, estimated to be between 2 and 3 years old, was discovered alone near the 1300 block of East 92nd Street by a resident at 10:50 a.m. and reported to Cleveland police.
Authorities investigated the neighborhood and canvassed adjacent homes in an attempt to locate the child’s parent or guardian, but were initially unsuccessful, according to reports.
The Cuyahoga County Division of Children and Family Services stated Friday that it has identified both the child and his family. Officials provided no additional information on the family or the circumstances of the occurrence.
It was unclear whether the youngster had returned to the family’s custody.
Cleveland police said investigators will investigate the issue to see whether any criminal charges are warranted. Currently, no charges have been filed.
