A Chicago woman has been charged after investigators linked her to an organized crime team accused of stealing over $100,000 in products from local retailers.

On August 4, Lululemon employes and Cook County sheriff’s department investigators allegedly observed Spencer making a false return at a store situated at 930 N. According to Rush Street investigators, she returned stolen products for shop credit before driving away in a black Jeep. Police halted the vehicle near Chestnut Street and Wabash Avenue and arrested Roise Spencer after determining she had an active warrant for a different narcotics possession and theft case.
The probe into Spencer also led officials to a storage unit she leases in the 1000 block of West 111th Street. Investigators claimed the unit was part of a larger investigation into a crew that reportedly gave homeless people money, drugs, or clothing in exchange for stealing products from Lululemon and other businesses.
According to police, the group traveled throughout northeastern Illinois, returning stolen products to retailers in exchange for store credit.
Spencer’s storage facility was one of several targets of search warrants issued by detectives in April. Authorities reported that tens of thousands of dollars in stolen products were recovered from the apartments.
Spencer was charged with stealing for more than $10,000. She was also processed for an outstanding warrant.
Spencer was ordered released from detention on the theft accusation following her court appearance on August 5. She is still in Cook County Jail custody for an unrelated matter.
