An Illinois man was arrested for contributing to a minor’s delinquency after a $12,000 sports card was taken from a convention in suburban Rosemont, according to authorities.
Michael Moretti, 61, of Plato Center, was charged after the incident on August 2.
The Rosemont Public Safety Department said it responded to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center after receiving reports of a sports trading card theft at the National Sports Collectors Convention. According to authorities, a video of the crime was shared on social media, showing a male and a juvenile apparently participating in the heist.
Investigators used village-owned security cameras, Flock cameras, and license plate reader technology to identify Moretti.
According to police, detectives located the stolen sports card and are making plans to return it to its rightful owner. According to authorities, the victim declined to file criminal charges in connection with the incident.
