A New Mexico man was taken into custody for driving with a suspended license after being pulled over at the TA Travel Center in Wildwood.
A deputy on patrol saw 32-year-old Luisbel Ramirez driving a white Chevrolet Malibu sedan westbound on State Road 44 around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A check of the registration indicated that it had expired as of May 2025.
The officer then stopped Ramirez at the TA Travel Center, located at 556 SR 44 in Wildwood. When queried, Ramirez stated that he did not possess a valid driver’s license. He instead showed a photo of his Florida ID on his phone, according to the report.
A further check of his driving record revealed many violations. He also had prior hidden convictions, according to the article.
Ramirez was detained and charged with driving while his license was suspended. The Cuban native was held into the Sumter County Detention Center with a $1,000 bond.
