A Leesburg man was arrested for trespassing after cops discovered him in a tree on his neighbor’s property.
Officers arrived to a residence on South Nursery Road near 31-year-old Carlos Hernan Garcia at 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. He was on the premises without permission.
The female resident reported that Garcia was currently climbing a tree in her fenced-in backyard. She showed the officers images of him sitting on the branch of an oak tree. Dispatch then informed him that he had previously been trespassed and was warned to leave the property on October 28, 2025, according to the report.
As the officers reached the backyard, they noticed Garcia attempting to walk down the branch to leave the property. He halted when directed to, however one of the officers had to move to the other side of the fence due to the branch spreading over it. According to the report, the officer was sprinting around the property when his partner yelled that Garcia was on the move.
When the police arrived in the adjoining home’s backyard, he found Garcia standing on the grass. When he saw the officer, he started walking away. The officer ordered him to halt, but he responded that he had done nothing illegal and was looking for his baseball, according to the report.
Garcia refused to stop until the cop threatened to taser him. He then complied and was arrested without incident, according to the report.
The Iowa native was charged with trespassing after warning and resisting the officer without using violence. He was booked into the Lake County Jail and bond was set at $2,000.
