The Ohio Lottery said that a man who had just turned 18 on August 6 bought his first lottery ticket at midnight and won big!
According to a media release, the 18-year-old, known only as Austin from Lewis Center, informed the Ohio Lottery that he bought the scratch-off ticket “sort of as a joke” and was surprised to win $10,000.
His slightly older friend, who had previously played the lottery, reportedly joked, “This is not how adult life goes!”
After paying state and federal taxes, the just-turned-18-year-old will receive $7,325.
According to the lottery, the kid purchased the $300 Million Diamond Dazzler, a $20 scratch-off ticket that allows players to win up to $2 million.
The winning ticket was purchased from Sheetz on Polaris Parkway in Columbus.
