The woman was stabbed to death near her car in the parking lot of Difficult Run Park in the Great Falls region has been identified.
A jogger discovered Carmen Lizet Puch, 42, of Reston, dead in a parking lot along Georgetown Pike near Old Dominion Drive just before 7 a.m. on Monday, according to Fairfax County police.
According to investigators, Puch was located alongside her 2011 Honda Civic.”Great Falls is probably one of the safest places in the world,” said Clare, who was hiking with a friend on Tuesday. “To have something happen like that feels personal, scary.”
The woman’s attacker and motive remain unknown, according to police.”There is no immediate indication that this was a random act,” Captain Jason Chandler stated at a news conference on Monday.
Investigators are searching the area for surveillance cameras and encouraging neighborhood members who may have video from the incident to contact police.
