The mayor of a Pennsylvania borough who faces charges after police discovered a hidden camera in his adult stepdaughter’s restroom has resigned.

Allegheny County police have charged Keith DiMarco, the Democratic mayor of Glassport, with two misdemeanor counts of invasion of privacy, according to online court filings.

DiMarco has a preliminary hearing planned for September 8. He was released without a bond.

DiMarco’s resignation and suspension from his information technology job at UPMC were revealed by TribLive on Tuesday evening.

According to KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, Glassport police responded to the home on August 14 after DiMarco’s stepdaughter reported discovering a hidden camera in her toilet.

The stepdaughter told police she was having a bath when she saw something hidden in a plant, which turned out to be a camera, TribLive said.

DiMarco denied to his wife that he was responsible for the camera and denied ordering it online, despite the fact that his wife followed a link that took her directly to his Walmart account.

Glassport police requested that county police take over the investigation to prevent a conflict of interest with the mayor.

County police later raided the house and seized electronic gadgets, including small wireless cameras, according to reports.

The day following the raid, DiMarco’s wife received a protection-from-abuse order preventing him from contacting her.

However, KDKA reports that DiMarco was detained for breaking the order after allegedly leaving two voicemails and emailing her.

There were no court records available online for that case.
