A 50-year-old Lakeland man has been arrested again after reportedly stealing a domestic security camera that transmitted clear footage of his face before he disconnected it, according to police.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd addressed the arrest in a video update, identifying the suspect as Nathan Diesson of Lakeland. According to Judd, Deeson approached an occupied property, found a surveillance camera located above the garage, and removed it while standing on a bicycle.

“He approaches this house with people inside, notices a camera over the garage, and steals it. Have you heard me? “He steals a surveillance camera,” Judd explained. “And you go, ‘Well, how did we know who he was?’ We looked at the security image from the camera he stole, and he doesn’t have a ‘twofus’ right in front of his face.”

The sheriff claimed that the system uploaded the photograph before it was turned off, capturing the suspect smiling right into the lens.

“And he’s smiling as he stands on his bicycle to steal the man’s security camera,” Judd replied. “Well the security camera worked cuz it uploaded his picture and we tracked him down and put him back in jail” .

Judd compared the surveillance freeze-frame to the suspect’s arrest photo to underline the visual similarity, noticing the noticeable gap in his smile.

“So when you look at him here, you don’t notice that he’s missing teeth. But look at him here while he’s beaming; he has summer teeth. “Some are there, and some are gone,” Judd said.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Deeson has a past criminal record that includes 51 felony and 19 misdemeanor counts.
