A Lakeland man turned himself in on charges of aggravated stalking involving a teenage girl, according to authorities.
According to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, Joseph William Danger Woodard, 27, met the 16-year-old victim on Snapchat before visiting her house twice on July 30 and 31.
According to investigators, the woman refused to let Woodard into her home, but she could hear him outside her window.
When she opened the door to indicate Woodard she was calling for assistance, VSO stated that he placed his foot in the opening, but she was able to close it.
According to VSO, Woodard eventually fired additional shots into the ground outside the victim’s home before driving away in a red Toyota hatchback.
Deputies stopped Woodard on State Road 11 and found two pistols, 350 rounds of ammo, and shot casings inside his vehicle.
He was detained on various felony charges in connection with the incident, according to VSO.
According to the sheriff’s office, Woodard attempted to avoid a no-contact order by sending letters to the victim from jail using his cellmate’s identity.The letters had violent content and passionate language aimed at the teenage victim, as well as incoherent and delusional rants,” VSO stated.
After spending more than two weeks in jail, Woodard was released on bond on August 19.
According to VSO, deputies had a warrant for Woodard’s arrest, and he surrendered Sunday nite on aggravated stalking charges. He is now back in detention at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
