A Douglas resident won more than $512,000 after placing $5 on an online-only Massachusetts State Lottery game.
Richard Finnegan won $512,743 by playing “Big Crush Multiplier,” an eInstant game offered exclusively through Mass Lottery Online.
Finnegan claimed his win, before taxes, on Wednesday at the Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters in Dorchester.
The win is the largest prize awarded by Mass Lottery Online since the platform’s inception on July 27.
“I’ve had the Mass Lottery app on my phone for years and then found the new games a couple weeks ago,” Finnegan said. “I have never won something like this. “It was completely unbelievable.”
Mass Lottery officials stated that wins of $50,000 or more won through online games must be claimed at the Lottery’s headquarters.
To play Mass Lottery games online, players must be at least 21 years old and physically located in Massachusetts.
