A 34-year-old man was taken into custody Thursday for allegedly robbing a United States Bank in Fallbrook, according to investigators.
Around 9:20 a.m., San Diego County sheriff’s deputies responded to a robbery in progress at the bank located at 1678 S. Mission Road. According to investigators, the individual entered the bank, handed a teller a note demanding money, and then escaped on foot with an undetermined sum of cash.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies discovered the suspect’s stuff in the Rodeway Inn parking lot and apprehended him in the lobby.
Gabriel Garza was detained without incident. Deputies discovered evidence linking him to the heist, and multiple witnesses identified him as the perpetrator, authorities said.
Garza was arrested on charges of robbery and put into Vista Detention Facility.
The robbery is being investigated by detectives from the Fallbrook Substation of the Sheriff’s Office, with cooperation from the FBI.
