An Evanston man is facing multiple criminal charges after police investigated alleged narcotics transactions in the north suburbs.
Evanston drug and gun charges
Evanston police said they received word in August that 63-year-old Andre L. Riley allegedly sold crack cocaine in the 900 block of Maple Avenue.
Investigators acquired further evidence, including images and video footage of what police described as possible narcotics activities.
Based on the evidence, officers obtained search warrants for Riley’s residence in the 900 block of Hinman Avenue as well as his vehicle. He was later taken into custody.
Police claimed they recovered and seized two firearms, ammo, drugs, money, and a vehicle.
Riley, according to police, is a convicted felon who is not permitted to own firearms.
He has been charged with:
- Five Class 1 felony counts of manufacturing or delivery of a controlled substance
- Two Class 2 felony counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon
- One Class 1 felony count of unlawful possession of 15 or more grams of cocaine
Riley was due in court on Friday. It is unclear what happened following the appearance.
Arrest history
According to Chicago police records, Riley was arrested on July 26, 2014, in the 2300 block of West Howard Street in Rogers Park. He was charged with battery, inflicting physical harm, and criminal damage to property valued at less than $300. Riley was freed on the same day with a $1,500 individual bond.
