A 20-year-old man died following a shooting on the west side of Columbus, and detectives later identified two 17-year-olds implicated in his death.
Mariah Janae Love Vinson and Omar Mohamed Omar are both being held at the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center for the murder of Mohamed Musa Mohamed on August 30.
On August 30, Columbus police officers responded to a complaint of a shooting on Lion Drive and discovered Mohamed with a gunshot wound. He was brought to a local hospital in severe condition but died a short time later.
Homicide detectives first identified Vinson as the alleged perpetrator of Mohamed’s death on September 8. During an interview, Vinson stated that the shooting occurred following a disagreement.
Two days later, on September 10, 2026, detectives identified Omar as the second individual implicated in Mohamed’s murder.
Omar is also detained at the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center.
