Monee, IL – A $51.4 million manufacturing expansion has officially opened in Will County, bringing dozens of new jobs and a 100,000-square-foot facility to Monee.
According to the governor’s office, Gov. JB Pritzker joined state economic development officials and Voortman Steel Machinery leaders for the grand opening of the company’s expanded U.S. headquarters. The project is expected to create 51 new jobs while retaining 40 existing positions.
The Netherlands-based Voortman Steel Group manufactures CNC steel processing machinery and develops related software. The family-owned company was founded in 1968, while Voortman USA was incorporated in Illinois in 2005 to serve customers across North, Central and South America.
Pritzker participated in the project’s groundbreaking in October 2024. The newly completed expansion enables the company to address rising customer demand while expanding its manufacturing and supply chain operations in Illinois.
Voortman USA President Ben Morrall stated that the facility will deliver technical jobs, hands-on training, and long-term career opportunities throughout the region.
The project secured support through Illinois’ Economic Development for a Growing Economy, or EDGE, program. State officials reported that companies participating in EDGE agreements during 2026 have committed to nearly 6,000 new jobs and more than $2.6 billion in investment statewide.
The Monee expansion contributes to ongoing manufacturing and logistics development in Will County, which benefits from its proximity to major Chicago-area transportation and supply chain networks.
State and local officials stood alongside company leaders to mark the facility’s opening and recognize its anticipated economic impact on Monee and the surrounding communities.
