One person died and several others sustained injuries in a serious collision at an intersection in Doral on Friday, authorities confirmed.
The accident occurred just before 11 a.m. near Northwest 36th Street and Northwest 87th Avenue.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials reported that emergency crews arrived at the scene, where multiple vehicles had collided, and discovered an individual trapped inside one of the cars. MDFR’s Technical Rescue Team successfully extracted the person from the wreckage.
Aerial footage captured by Chopper 6 revealed that at least six vehicles, including two pickup trucks, were involved in the crash. A red GMC vehicle was visible resting atop a crushed white car, its doors torn off and airbags deployed from the force of the impact.
Emergency responders treated a total of six patients at the scene. Four received treatment and were released on site, one was airlifted to a nearby hospital, and another was transported by ground ambulance, officials stated.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed that traffic homicide detectives are conducting an investigation, though officials provided no additional information about the deceased victim.
Witnesses reported that the driver of the red GMC ran a red light, crossed into opposing lanes, and collided with six vehicles. Gustavo Bedding, who was traveling in one of the vehicles alongside his wife, stated that both escaped without injury.
“What I find amazing is the speed that pickup gained in just the space of the intersection,” Bedding said.
Several witnesses described hearing the crash echo through the busy intersection. “We thought it was a small explosion,” one witness remarked.
The collision prompted road closures and significant traffic delays in the surrounding area.
