An argument over a restaurant order turned violent when a customer allegedly pulled a firearm from his home and threatened a worker with it, prompting his arrest in Opa-locka, according to police.
Ronathan Laston, 40, was detained early Thursday in relation to the Wednesday afternoon confrontation.
According to an Opa-locka Police arrest record, officers arrived to the location soon after 5:30 p.m. after receiving allegations of firearm-related threats.
The worker told detectives that he was preparing an order for Laston when the two got into an argument about Laston’s repeated order changes.
According to police, Laston challenged the worker to a fight and instructed him to follow him home. The worker told investigators that he remained outside when Laston entered the house.
According to the report, Laston returned outside with a weapon and made menacing moves, prompting the worker to fear for his life.
According to investigators, the worker fled the scene and later reported Laston to responding officers. Laston was detained.
According to the report, investigators acquired a search warrant for the residence after finding that Laston had been convicted of a felony.
During the search, officers discovered a.22-caliber rifle next to Laston’s bed and an empty extended magazine on top of it.
Police also discovered four live.357-caliber rounds in a safe in his bedroom.
In a separate bedroom, investigators discovered a fully loaded Glock handgun with an extended magazine.
Police claimed the weapon corresponded to the victim’s description of the firearm purportedly displayed during the incident.
Laston was arrested for aggravated assault with a firearm and possession of a firearm, weapon, or ammunition by a convicted felon.
During a bond hearing on Friday, a judge established probable cause and set Laston’s bond at $7,500.
